Let your imagination run wild with art for the outdoors!
Get creative in Mixed Media Magic with Jessica Wiebe. The possibilities are endless as you experiment with combining different types of art: digital photography with drawing; sculpture with sound; collage with painting.
Come along with artist Patti Nicholson on an imaginary trek to explore Outdoor Art. Make birdhouses, bug and butterfly art, and garden-related art using an assortment of natural and found materials.

About the Instructors:

Jessica Lynn Wiebe is from Brandon, Manitoba currently living and working in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She graduated with her BFA from NSCAD University in 2015, and with her BEd from Acadia University in 2016. A former artillery soldier in the Canadian military, her artwork investigates the mechanisms of war, including the complex politics around gender, economy, architecture of war, and the human condition. She employs storytelling and performance in a multi-disciplinary practice to make work that creates dialogue by engaging and challenging deeply held beliefs and emotions about the military and war. Currently she is a participant of the Canadian Forces Artist Program (CFAP) 2018-2019 through the Canadian War Museum (CWM) in Ottawa.
Patti Nicholson (BFA, B.Ed)  is from the Halifax area, and has been working in  art education since 2008.  Her studio practice utilizes mixed media and found materials, as well as more traditional media to explore inspirations from the natural world. Her educational approach encourages exploration of materials and ideas through creative problem solving and experimentation.
