Studio Classes & Camps

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia works with artists and art educators to provide a diverse array of high-quality studio art programs. Students are introduced to a range of art materials and art processes, and are encouraged to use their imaginations, experiment and try new things, ask questions, and express themselves with a sense of curiosity and discovery.

The Permanent Collection and special exhibitions offer unique teaching opportunities to enhance learning and a greater appreciation of ways to use materials, approach various subject matter, and understand more about historical, cultural, and contemporary ideas. This rich learning environment complements the experience of hands-on art making.

The Summer School of the Arts classes and March Break camps are weekly programs for children and youth ages 3 – teens. Specialized studio workshops, many developed through our community partnership programs with organizations such as Autism Nova Scotia, Phoenix Youth Programs, the Alzheimers Society and the IWK Health Centre, are also available for diverse groups.
