Steven Shearer began his studies in studio arts at the Emily Carr College of Art & Design, graduating with a bachelor of fine arts in 1992. During his studies, he spent the summer of 1991 in a New York Summer Studio Program administered by the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design.
His work has been presented in recent solo exhibitions at Galleria Franco Noero in Torino (2006), Galerie Eva Presenhuber (2005) in Zurich, the Contemporary Art Gallery (2004) and the Or Gallery (2000) in Vancouver, Blum & Poe (2003) in Santa Monica, Mars Gallery (2002) in Tokyo, and Colin Deland American Fine Arts Co. (2002, 1999) in New York. Steven has upcoming solo exhibitions with Stuart Shave Modern Art Inc. in London, and the Power Plant in Toronto (2007).
He has also participated in group exhibitions including the 4th Berlin Biennial, The Renaissance Society (2005) in Chicago, Barbara Gladstone Gallery (2005) in NYC, Tate Modern, Untitled Gallery (2004) in London, Kunsthalle Wien, (2003) in Vienna and the CCAC Wattis Institute (2002) in San Francisco. His work is also found in public collections in Canada, the United States and Europe.
Shearer is represented by Galerie Eva Presenhuber in Zurich, Galleria Franco Noero in Torino. Maccarone Inc. in NYC and Stuart Shave Modern Art Inc. in London.
