Janice Kerbel received a BFA from Emily Carr College of Art in 1994 and an MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, London in 1996. She has had solo exhibitions at Moderna Musset, Stockholm; Galerie Karin Guenther, Hamburg; Norwich Gallery, UK; Artspeak, Vancouver; Arnolfini, Bristol UK; and Gasworks, London, amongst others. Her group exhibition record includes shows in the UK, Germany, Austria, Australia, Spain, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands, as well as in the United States in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Ridgefield CT, and in Canada in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary.
Janice has created several works for commission which include the web-based ‘Bird Island Project’ http://www.bird-island.com and 15 Lombard Street, an artist’s book published by BookWorks, London. She is currently completing a work for Locus+ in Newcastle, and writing a play for radio commissioned by Artangel in London. Her work has been written about in The New York Times, The London Times, Art Monthly, Parachute Magazine, frieze, and was included as “one to watch” in the January 2006 issue of Artforum.
