Halifax,
Nova Scotia – After the tremendous success of the inaugural Nocturne:
Art at Night, held in October of 2008 throughout HRM, volunteer
organizers are pleased to announce the date for 2009.
“On
October 17, 2009, Halifax will once again be illuminated for one
special night with art installations in public spaces, exhibitions in
participating galleries throughout the city and unique performances,”
said Laura Carmichael, Chair of Nocturne.
Nocturne 2009
promises to build on the successful 2008 event, which saw thousands of
people experiencing art on both sides of the Halifax harbour with the
23 participating galleries and 26 special projects.
Nocturne:
Art at Night is a completely volunteer-driven initiative. As such,
there are many opportunities for volunteers to participate on the night
of the event, serve on the various planning committees or contribute
through advertising, space donation or financial sponsorship.
Information will be regularly updated on the Nocturne website, www.nocturnehalifax.ca.
Nocturne:
Art at Night is an annual festival bringing art and energy to the
streets of Halifax for one unique evening in October. The free,
accessible event showcases and celebrates the exciting arts scene in
Halifax. Walking tours, transportation and a programme map complete the
experience for residents and visitors alike to visit the variety of
exhibitions in participating galleries and public spaces throughout the
city. The signature event, designed and planned by volunteers within
the community, is an opportunity for everyone to experience the art of
Halifax - in a whole new light.
