Nova Scotia- Nocturne committee is proud to announce support for
Halifax Regional Municipality’s Public Art Registry. Members of the
registry will exclusively receive the Nocturne application in June. The
Nocturne panel of judges will then select the independent exhibiting
artists based on their proposals, for the night of October 17th, 2009.
The
registry is being created to establish a simplified process for gaining
interest in HRM Cultural Affairs public art programs. HRM will avoid
using Requests For Proposals and Calls for Artists that are clear and
concise will be specially created and issued according to national and
international standards to the registry.
A call for artists to
sign up for the registry will be issued twice a year. To apply artists
must send an email with a resume and statement of interest to Jamie
MacLellan, Public Art Facilitator, Cultural Affairs, Halifax Regional
Municipality:
halifax.ca.
The registry aims to be inclusive to all creative mediums and accept

will be an info session for interested artists to take place at The
Hub, 1673 Barrington Street, Second Floor on Tuesday May 19th at 6pm.
Representatives from the HRM and Nocturne will be on hand to answer
questions.

Art at Night is a festival bringing art and energy to the streets of
Halifax between 6:00 p.m. and midnight on Saturday, October 17th. The
completely free, second annual event showcases and celebrates the
exciting arts scene in Halifax. The Nocturne program, map, bus, and
walking tours guide residents and visitors alike to a variety of
exhibitions in galleries and public spaces throughout the city. The
signature event, designed and planned by volunteers within the
community, is an opportunity for everyone to experience the art of
Halifax - in a whole new light.
