include:
Artist-in-residence Lisa Lipton presents Baby Blue, a video projection
whose main characters, an emerging singer and middle-aged couple,
perform an adaptation of the song “Blue Moon” as a reflection on
despair and redemption. Through this piece, Lipton muses on dashed
hopes and grand dreams, loneliness and community, failure and new-
found greatness.
Mitchell Wiebe’s alter-ego “Dweebo” and Graeme Patterson’s
“Puma Marauder”, the feline from Grudge Match, engage audiences
with music, dancing, and a possible tussle on wrestling mats.
In Michael Fernandes’ Security, visitors to the Gallery will be met
by his steely-eyed guards circling a mysteriously-draped object, as
Fernandes plays with notions of preciousness, hierarchical systems
and ‘the gaze’.
Former members of “i see rowboats” - Lisa Lipton, William Robinson and
Solomon Vromans - regroup for a new musical project, LIBRARY. Lipton,
Robinson and Vromans, all local to Halifax, began collaborating musically
in December 2008 both out of inevitability and necessity to keep warm
through the winter. LIBRARY debuted their music live in a concert at the
Ballroom Gallery of the Khyber Centre for the Arts last May.

Projected onto one of the Dalhousie Arts Centre’s large, front exterior windows, the video "Submerged" depicts Halifax-based artist Glynis Humphrey, underwater, wearing a diaphanous white dress. Viewers are pulled in by the undulating movement of the shear fabric in the water and by the ghostly figure who at times appears to take pleasure in the dark, watery environment and at others times appears to be struggling. This work is part of the installation Breathing Underwater that won the 2007 Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia Masterworks Art Award.

A group of architecture students from Dalhousie University created
an installation with lights, color and projections that transforms the
meaning and experience of their building. Under the supervision
of professor Sarah Bonnemaison, the group explored everyday move-
ments in and around the building and how these movements can be
rendered solely through lights as traces in space. At night, the formality
of the facade of the nineteenth century building facing Spring Garden
Road is turned inside out by using the large window as a display sur-
face to lure people inside and experience the installation from within.

ViewPoint Gallery is an artist-run co-operative, whose members are photographers working together to nurture and promote their artistic passion and the practice of their craft, to exhibit and market their work, and to actively engage in the cultural life of the broader photographic community.
In celebration of its 10th anniversary, ViewPoint Gallery presents "Free Flow", curated by Meaghan Dorward, assistant director at Studio 21. This Exhibition is inspired by the Surrealists' technique "Exquisite Corpse"; an exercise where a narrative is created based on the successive contributions of a group of artists. Seventeen gallery members will each present a photograph and descriptive sentence based on their reaction to another members photograph.
In the Corridor Gallery, Bonnie Baker will exhibit two contiguous drawings that bind the walls of the gallery. These drawings were culled from a previous installation/ performance piece, called Bindings, in which the interior of a small room was literally bound with interconnecting drawings of knotted rope and accompanying text. A number of drawings were made each day over a course of two weeks until all four walls were tied together with images and words. "Everything that you are reading, I have said before" is the first line of the text telling a story of plagiarism and regret.
