Nocturne Program This program and map make it fun and easy for you to experience Nocturne 2009. Correspond the color-coded and numbered Gallery, Spotlight, and Independent Project listings with the map in the centre of the program to help you decide where to go. Look for the numbers along your route! Each gallery, venue and project will have an official Nocturne sign with a corresponding number on the night of the event.


GalleriesVisit commercial, artist-run, public, private and university galleries that are open late to welcome you with special Nocturne programming and exciting exhibitions. Check out the Gallery 2009 Page for more info on who is participating and what they are planning.


Independent ProjectsContemporary artists and curators working in a variety of creative disciplines were selected to install Independent Projects for one night only, in public spaces throughout the city.  See who's participating on our Independent Projects Page.


Spotlights Businesses and organizations joined in the celebration by coordinating their own Nocturnal event for this one night occasion. See what they are planning on our Spotlights 2009 page.


Nocturne Buses Two free Metro Transit buses will be available to the public during Nocturne and will follow a route, stopping at regular intervals close to Nocturne galleries and independent projects in Halifax. Enjoy free entertainment by our bus performers while aboard and hop on/hop off to your heart’s content!  Be sure to take a trip on the ferry too, which will be running regularly every half hour until 11:30 pm. Grab a group of friends and a plot a special Nocturne route, no need to worry about parking!


NocTOURS

Nocturne Volunteer Tour Guides will be leading free tours at regular intervals throughout the evening.  All downtown tours will start on the hour from Grand Parade.  Join our guides as they weave their way through a variety of galleries and Independent projects in the downtown area, feeding your brain with insights into some of Nocturne’s exhibits and HRM’s unique art community. 


CKDU Nocturne ARTcasts: Produced in partnership with CKDU Radio, Podcast episodes will be uploaded to our website a few days before the event and will be available to download for free.  Plug in your headphones and listen to the Audio NocTOUR or a playlist of tracks from our Bus Performers as you experience Nocturne with all your senses!  


Nocturne AfterpARTy: The Paragon Theatre is Nocturne’s official after-party destination. Starting at midnight, all who are 19+ are welcome to come to the party and bask in the energy and afterglow of the Nocturne experience! More info>
