Blue

Blue

Curator: Sarah Fillmore

Blue: a defining hue of the oceanside, its shimmering qualities are attractive to artists from far and wide. Showcased herein are paintings by Elizabeth Enders, John Hartman, Françoise Sullivan, Wayne Boucher, and Tom Hammick. These artists work along the water’s edge, drawing from its varying and various faces, textures, sparkle. From the foggy grey blue of Enders' paintings of Cape La Have to the shimmering indigo of the Greek seashore painted by Françoise Sullivan, the ocean’s blue takes shape on each canvas or page. Working harbours are the subject of John Hartman and Tom Hammick, while Wayne Boucher, whose paintings often distill a sort of essence from each of the three primary colours, here presents a glowing, contemplation of the colour blue.

Blue offers a meditation on colour, and invites your own musings herein.
