The AGNS Western Branch in Yarmouth is pleased to partner with Visual Arts Nova Scotia as the host organization for the
VANS in Residence pilot program.
The
VANS in Residence program
will
provide an opportunity for a Nova Scotia artist to have a focused
period of work that will see them deeply engaged in their own practice
as well as working with youth in the Yarmouth community. These
elements will come together to create a dynamic environment for
learning and creation.
The residency will take place over four consecutive weeks between November 1, 2009 and March 14, 2010.
The program provides for the artist to work an approximately 40 hour
week, with 40% of the time dedicated to community based work (including
hands-on workshops, studio visits, talks and presentations) and 60% to
their own artistic practice (creation, research, etc.).
Local housing, studio space at the AGNS Western Branch, and a stipend of $2000 will be granted to the artist.
