TEEN ART CLASSES for ages 12 and older
These week-long afternoon classes are both fun and challenging for teens! Classes are from
1 pm - 4 pm.
July 16 – 20
YOU ARE THE ART
Exploring the surreal and fantastic with artist Sherry Lynn Jollymore students will begin with an initial spark of an idea and throughout the week actualize it in the form of wearable art that transforms the wearer. Using both found and recycled materials, the final project will include the photographing and showcasing of the wearable works! Some sewing experience an asset but not essential.
*Enrollment is limited to 8 in this class
July 23 – 27
EXPLORE WITH CLAY
Clay can be used in so many ways! Explore clay through a variety of techniques including building by hand, making sculpture, and using the wheel. Inspired by the original art works in the Gallery, students will discover new ways to use pattern and colour to bring clay to life. Join artist Bethany Riordan-Butterworth for a week of fun!
July 30 – August 3
ACRYLIC, PASTEL, AND PEN & INK
Students will be experiment and practice with acrylic paint, pastel and pen and ink with art educator Charlotte Marble. Through a series of exercises and final works, students will learn about various fine art materials, colour theory, and composition. Students will gain insight into how artworks are made as well as the choices and risks artists take when creating a work of art.
August 13 – 17
EXPERIMENTAL DRAWING
With artist Lisa Lipton, students will focus on experimental collaborative drawing using a variety of different mediums. Focusing on both black & white and colour compositions, students will explore how story can be translated through visual representations.
August 20 – 24
WATERCOLOUR PAINTING
Join artist Tyler Hyde for a week of watercolour painting. Explore both traditional and non-traditional ways of using this medium as you explore landscape painting, portraiture and abstraction.
