Art Express

Welcome Aboard! Class limit of eight children. Register for a morning or afternoon session 9:00 am – 12:00 noon or 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. The classes will take place in the Young Learner’s Studio in Gallery South, second level.


July 4 – 8
 
COLOURAMA
Red, Yellow, Blue and You! Discover the magic and science of colour in this playful and creative art making class with instructor Shelley Howes. Children will also explore the Gallery to find out how different artists use colour in their art work.
 

July 11 – 15  

 
2D OR NOT 2D  
Come walk the line between drawing and sculpture with artist Laura Carmichael. Children will learn about how to make 2-D and 3-D art -- and everything in between! Along with stories and Gallery tours, this exciting class explores the magic of art in all of its different shapes and forms!  
 

July 18 - 22
 
STORIES & ART
Come along to the most creative story time ever with artist Ella Tetrault! Explore some favourite children's books in search of artistic inspiration. Each day brings new stories and new exciting art projects. Children will explore a variety of art materials and techniques in this imaginative story time experience. 
 
 
July 25 – 29
 
MIXED MEDIA ADVENTURE
Discover all the exciting things you can make using mixed media with artist Ella Tetrault! Explore the fun and spontaneity of joining together different kinds of materials in unexpected ways. This class will include work in both 2 and 3 dimensions. (Offered only in morning)

 
August 8 – 12

 
MOULD, MUCK AND MIX
Have fun and get messy in this interactive sculpture class with instructor Shelley Howes. Children will play and experiment with all sorts of very tactile materials to make sculptures and other works of art. Be ready to get your hands dirty and test out tons of new materials!
 
 
August 15 - 19

 
ZOO TIME  
Lions, tigers and bears, oh my! Join artist Margarita Fainshtein in this mixed media class all about wild animals. From animal prints to camouflage, animals are a great source of subject matter for making artwork.
 
 
August 22 – 26
 
ACTION PAINTING  
Let the paint drip! Paint can trickle, splatter and ooze on the page. There are so many ways to paint expressively! Children will experiment with colour mixing and the different ways that paint can be applied to a surface with instructor Shelley Howes.
