The first lesson plans, compiled by teachers for teachers, linked The Art of the Ancient Mediterranean and Treasures of Ancient Egypt to concepts in visual art, social studies, mathematics, science, and language arts. Additional lessons, currently in development, are based on permanent collections at The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia with a particular focus on the theme of “Flight” for the 2008-09 school year.
Arts workshops throughout the fall, winter, and spring months take place at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and provide opportunities for teachers to learn about Gallery works and art processes and to engage in art making in order to create dynamic and vibrant classrooms. An emphasis is placed on the all important aspect of advocacy for the arts as a necessary core in our school curriculum. To receive further information or to register contact
