Art is a wonderful tool for self-expression, especially when words can be missing. There are very limited recreational activities that consider the unique needs of people with autism. Autism Arts is designed to provide creative opportunities for people with ASD by presenting meaningful and inspiring art experiences.
Arts programming is available for children, youth , adults, and families. This partnership provides an ideal opportunity for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and Autism Nova Scotia
to build healthy communities. This program is in its 7th year and has now expanded to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Western Branch in Yarmouth.
Art classes for eight week sessions are available in the fall, winter, and spring for children ages six and up. Classes take place in the Gallery studios on Saturdays and are 60 minutes long. A well-qualified and experienced artist/art educator and an occupational therapist work together to provide a fun, safe, and creative learning environment. Call 446 4995 to register.
The Fall Session for 2013 begins on Saturday, October 19th in Halifax, and on Saturday, September 21st at AGNS Western Branch in Yarmouth.
