January 22, 2009The
Art Gallery of Nova Scotia has re-opened to the public however Flight
Dreams will remain grounded until the weekend. The AGNS had been closed
this week due to ground water damage that seeped into the Gallery
space. No artwork was damaged and as a precaution, the Flight Dreams
exhibition was removed to further protect the art during the assessment
and cleaning phases.
Ray Cronin, Director and CEO notes, "On
behalf of the Board of Governors I would like to thank everyone
involved with their efforts to re-open the Gallery. Everyone at
Transportation, Infrastructure Renewal worked around the clock to
identify the problem and work on solutions to allow the AGNS to
re-open. All of the Gallery's staff worked with great diligence and
professionalism to ensure the safety of the Province's AGNS collection.
We look forward to welcoming visitors back to the AGNS"
Programs
that were planned for this weekend have been postponed and the will be
rescheduled for future dates. Flight Dreams remains on view until March
1 and Joe Fafard closes on February 8, 2009. The AGNS thanks everyone
for their support and concern during this past week.
