The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia collection numbers over 15,000 pieces, representing numerous acquisitions made by the Gallery for the people of Nova Scotia. These works come to the Gallery via donation, bequest or purchase. You can explore the Gallery's collection records through
Artefacts Canada. We add images to this online resource regularly.
Appraisals
The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia cannot provide appraisals or suggestions
about the possible value of works. Outside appraisers are used to
evaluate the fair market value of all works donated to the Gallery.
If
you are interested in learning the value of a work, a
number of appraisers in Nova Scotia and Canada can assist you, including local commercial art galleries or the Art Dealers Association of Canada (ADAC). ADAC has an excellent online artist search that points you to an affiliated ADAC member gallery as well as a gallery
listing by province.
Donations, Bequests, and Purchases
