June 6 – HALIFAX, NS – The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is bringing the glitz and glamour of the iconic New York nightclub of the 1970s and ’80s at its fifth annual fundraising gala. Carnivale AGNS: Studio 54 will take place on Friday, June 6. Presented by Scotiabank, the evening begins at 6 p.m. at the Scotiabank Main Branch on Hollis Street, with the main event to follow inside in the Gallery, at 1723 Hollis Street.
Carnivale AGNS: Studio 54 will feature a fusion of disco-themed fashion, circus performance, music and cuisine, as well as dancing and a live auction.
To celebrate Carnivale AGNS: Studio 54, the Gallery is also selling raffle tickets on a four-day/three-night trip to New York, courtesy of Maritime Travel and Scotiabank. The trip, valued at $3,000, includes airfare, transfers, three nights’ accommodation and a Broadway show. Tickets are $50 each or three for $125, and only 250 tickets are being sold.
Funds raised from the gala and the raffle will help the Gallery deliver ambitious educational and public programs and to continue to build exhibitions engaging people with art in Nova Scotia.
“The Carnivale organizing committee is delighted to present an extraordinary evening benefiting the visual arts in Halifax and for all of Nova Scotia,” said John Volcko and Jane Machum, Co-chairs of this year’s Carnivale Gala Committee. “We would also like to thank the volunteers and sponsors and those who have bought tickets.”
