Young Patrons Circle embarks on third annual ArtRising party

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s Young Patrons’ Circle (The Circle) will host the third annual ArtRising party Friday, April 5, 2013 at the AGNS on Hollis Street.

“The Circle invites you to step underground and expose yourself to something you've never experienced before in Halifax. This one-of-a-kind event will cultivate your curiosity in art and solidify your spot in party history,” says Circle Chair Bessy Nikolaou.

ArtRising – Underground Volume III will spotlight work by regional contemporary artist Noah Logan, as he transforms a blank AGNS space into a vibrant, stimulating, hotbed of creativity. It promises to be an unparalleled experience of contemporary art inspiration, music, live performances, and art inspired food.

A celebration that aims to stimulate and engage attendees, ArtRising is an annual fundraiser for the AGNS. Membership fees and proceeds from the event contribute to the purchase of contemporary Canadian art.

For the past three years, “ArtRising has been expanding the audience and membership for the gallery. The Circle, and their signature event, have exposed the AGNS and its collection, in particular its contemporary Canadian collection, to a variety of audiences, not just traditional art lovers,” says AGNS Director and CEO Ray Cronin.

“This event goes against the grain and challenges the traditional fundraising model. Think ‘avant-garde’; think ‘underground party’; think, ‘I need to be there’,” adds Nikoloau.

Tickets are $75, and are available at www.artrising2013.eventbrite.com Doors open at 7.00pm. Information about entertainment and sponsors will be released through the ArtRising Facebook event page, Twitter and ArtRising website. Links provided below.

The Circle is a membership program for young adults in their 20s – 40s who want to support the rich cultural life of Nova Scotia. It is a member-based organization dedicated to creating intimate encounters with the visual arts and artists working in Atlantic Canada. The group is spear-headed by a committee of 8 volunteers.
