Portions of AGNS to Close Effective Immediately

MAY 07, 2013 – HALIFAX, NS – Portions of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (AGNS) in Halifax will be closed until further notice due to technical issues with the sprinkler system in one of the Gallery’s historic buildings.

The Gallery’s permanent and temporary exhibitions in the north building of the AGNS will be closed. However, the Maud Lewis Gallery, the Gallery Shop and Untitled Eats Restaurant in the South Building will remain open.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and will make every attempt to get the necessary work completed as soon as possible,” said Ray Cronin, Director & CEO of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. “Visitors who wish to visit the Maud Lewis Gallery will be granted free admission until we are able to re-open the entire gallery.”

The Gallery will make every effort to re-schedule school and group tours affected by this closure. In this instance, school, group tour and program organisers should contact Susan Melvin at 902-424-8935gov.ns to reschedule their tour and/or event.

For regular updates the public are encouraged to check the Gallery’s website at www.artgalleryofnovascotia.ca, Facebook page and twitter feed @ArtGalleryNS
