Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s Annual Fundraising Gala Takes Carnivale to India

MAY 28, 2013 – HALIFAX, NS – From Halifax to Bombay, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia will stage an Indian inspired affair this year for its fourth annual fundraising gala. Carnivale AGNS: India will take place on Friday June 7, 2013. Presented by Scotiabank, the evening begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Scotiabank main branch with the main event to follow in the Ondaatje Courtyard of the Gallery at 1723 Hollis Street.

Guests will arrive at a big top tent transformed into the elegance of a Maharaja’s palace and experience incredible India at an exotic red-carpet evening that brings together artists, benefactors, art lovers and fun-seekers in support of the Gallery’s important place in our cultural landscape.

Carnivale AGNS: India will feature a fusion of Indian inspired circus, music and cuisine. There will be lively and infectious Indian rhythms, Bollywood style dancing, along with sumptuous food and an amazing array of opulent live auction items up for grabs.

To celebrate Carnivale AGNS: India the Gallery is also selling raffle tickets on an amazing 9 day/8 night luxury trip to India, courtesy of Maritime Travel and Scotiabank. Tour highlights include a fully guided tour of the historic city of Delhi; a visit to Jaipur that includes an elephant ride up to Amber Fort and an incredible sunrise stopover at the majestic Taj Mahal. Tickets are $100 with only 250 tickets being sold.

Funds raised from the gala and the raffle will help the Gallery continue to build exhibitions and deliver ambitious educational and public programs bringing art and people together in Nova Scotia.
