Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Now Open Late!

May 16, 2012 – HALIFAX, NS – The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (AGNS) is excited to announce that effective May 20th the Gallery will extend its opening hours and will now be open until 9pm, six days a week.

As of May 20th the new hours will be:

Monday to Saturday: 10:00am to 9:00pm
Sunday: 12noon to 5:00pm

The Gallery Shop and Untitled Eats Restaurant will be opening for the same schedule of hours. These hours will be in effect until the Thanksgiving weekend.

The change in the hours of operation is prompted by the Gallery’s commitment to enhancing visitors’ experience. One key part of doing that is to make the Gallery more accessible to potential viewers during peak visitor season.

“Galleries and museums have to move with the times,” said Ray Cronin, the Gallery’s Director and CEO. “The new opening hours are a reflection of an increasing demand from the public to stay open later,” he added.

“The province’s art collection is one of the most important cultural assets we have,” said the Honourable David Wilson, Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage. “The new opening hours at the AGNS will allow every Nova Scotian and our visitors from around the world the opportunity to view the provincial collection.”

Admission remains unchanged at $12 full price; $10 senior; $7 student: Youth $5. Children under 5 are free.

Admission is free 5pm to 9pm every Thursday for BMO Free Access Thursdays courtesy of BMO Financial Group. The purchase of an AGNS membership also provides free access to the Gallery year round as well as a number of other attractive benefits such as discounts, invitations and reciprocal free access to over 20 galleries and museums across Canada.
