November 30, 2010 – HALIFAX, NS – The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that the owners of the Armview Grill Company Limited have been awarded the tender for operating café services on behalf of the museum. The new café, operating under the name Untitled Eats, anticipates a February 2011 opening.
With a menu comprised largely of local fare, the eatery will offer counter (take away) as well as table service at the Gallery. It will also cater meetings, receptions, and other events.
Armview Grill Company Limited is the private owner/operator of the local and well established Armview Restaurant & Lounge and Armview Catering, as well as its affiliated entity, Uptown Catering and Events. Together, these operations bring over 25 years of combined food service and catering experience to the Gallery and its patrons.
“The concept for this new venture is rooted in creating an intimate eatery with crisp contemporary décor that complements the Gallery in which it is located,” said President George Kapetanakis of The Armview. “We are excited to be collaborating with the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and entering into this next evolution of our business.”
“The Armview is a wonderful fit for us as we share a common philosophy around expanding the visitor’s experience with an art museum”, added Ray Cronin, Director & CEO of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. “We are energized about this partnership.”
Renovations and design for the eatery space, located off the Gallery’s main entrance at 1723 Hollis Street, will begin in the coming weeks.
